Malahide Marina will be dredging the marina basin commencing 1st December and due to finish on the 22nd December.

This is a necessary undertaking to maintain a suitable depth for all vessels within the Marina. We contract Van Oord, a professional dredging company to carry out these works on our behalf.

At Malahide we use a process called Water Injection Dredging. Please click the link below for an explanation and short video explaining the process.

For our Berth Holders, there will be some minor disruption. To get the best result, it is necessary for us to remove as much of the marina furniture as possible. The more we remove the easier and safer for the dredger to work in the marina basin. On this campaign they will be using a small tug Havik and a dredger Baldr, combined they are 20 metres long although very manoeuvrable they do require a lot of space.

For this reason, we will in the first stage remove Docks B, C, H and I. We will remove the main walkway from G Dock and the inner section of the southern breakwater.

We will move other docks as required when the dredging is underway. In some areas we will move the boats to temporary berths. We will value your assistance in this matter if you have the time to move the vessel yourself otherwise, we will tow it (which we are quite expert at). We will always try to keep you informed if your vessel had to be moved and to let you know the details of the temporary berth.
